The Dyatlov Pass Incident

In 1959, nine experienced hikers were found dead in the Ural Mountains in northern Russia. The circumstances surrounding their deaths are confusing, even mystical, and for over half a century specialists and amateurs alike have been trying to piece together what really happened on the slope of Elevation 1079.
The aim of this site is to give the facts to the best of our ability. There are many sources out there – websites, books, and films alike – that pose speculations and unverified information as “facts.” Our goal is to provide readers with unembellished information so that each can reach his or her own unbiased conclusion regarding this mystery.
We don’t by any means claim to have solved the Dyatlov Incident. In fact, we doubt that anyone will ever find an answer that suitably answers all of the questions left behind by the bizarre evidence, the secrecy of the Soviet Union and the KGB, and the legends that have sprung up in the following years. We only hope that we can help others come to their own conclusions.
